２００８年の変更点で主だった所は
・LEGという呼び方の廃止 DAY0とかDAY1とかに変更
・スタート順はDay1からDay3まで成績順にスタート
速い者からGO!!!＜これってグラベルでのロウブいじめ？＞つねに掃除役
２００９年からは
・ひとつのラリーでミックスサーフェイス（ターマック舗装路とグラベル未舗装路の混合）の許可。
ただし ひとつの路面を２日間続けて使うこと
・SSの総距離を３６０～４００ｋｍに変更
ミックスサーフェイスはチーム的には歓迎されていない模様。
路面が変わればマシンのセッティング というレベルではないか
各パーツを路面に合わせて交換しないといけませんからねぇ ブレーキやらサスペンションやらその他モロモロ

「クラッシュは広い右コーナーの終わりあたりで起きたんだ。曲がるためにブレーキをかけたけれど非常にスリッパリーで
車が滑ってコースから外れた。石壁に（頭から突っ込むのは危険なので）ハードにぶつかる前に車をどうにかして横を向けたんだ」

朝は雨がちょころびっと降ったりして路面は濡れた箇所もある感じ
で 観戦ステージのSS3でクラッシュ発生

チャンピオン決定となるか？
っていうかMarcus Gronholm (BP Ford WRT)チャンピオンとして勝ち逃げ出来るか？
ですが その条件なんぞ見てみますか。
まずは基本的な所から
ドライバーが１イベントで獲得できるのは最大で１位の１０ポイント
以下２位８ポイント ３位６ポイント ４位５ポイント ５位４ポイント ６位３ポイント ７位２ポイント ８位１ポイント
なので次が最終戦という所でココ アイルランド終了時に二人の差が１１ポイント以上だったらチャンピオン決定です。
ラリージャパン終了時点では
１位 Marcus Gronholm (BP Ford WRT) １０４ポイント（５勝）
２位 Sebastien Loeb (Citroen Total WRT) １００ポイント（７勝）
ですからアイルランドで
グロンホルムが１位（＋１０ポイント）で
ロウブが６位以下（＋３ポイント以下）
もしくはグロンホルムが２位（＋８ポイント）で
ロウブが８位（＋１ポイント以下）なら決定します。
逆にロウブが５位以上なら最終戦にて決定となります。
まあ、ロウブがターマックでやっちゃうっていうことはまずないので
ウェールズラリーＧＢまでチャンピオン決定持ち越しでしょうな。
グロンホルム的には最低でも３ポイント差は欲しいでしょうね。
アイルランドで２ポイント、次のGBでも２ポイント 合計で４ポイント詰めてポイント差がなくなったら優勝回数でロウブにチャンピオンを持っていかれますからねぇ＜でも非常に難しい。
ロウブ的にはDaniel Sordo (Citroen Total WRT)の援護が欲しい所ですかね。
１－２を取ればGBは最悪（マーカスが３位）でも同ポイントで最終戦を迎えられますからね。
